Literacy difficulties
Coloured Overlays
Headaches and eye strain can be common effects of the increased amount of work children are doing on computers. Children with dyslexia can be particularly affected by looking a screen for long periods of time. Using a coloured overlay can help if your child is struggling to focus or complaining of headaches. It is also important that your child spends time away from the screen so please make sure that they have plenty of breaks throughout the day.
Here is a website that offers a free download of a coloured screen overlay.

Dyslexia Gold
If your child has literacy difficulties, they may benefit from using a programme called Dyslexia Gold. This is an online programme that builds on their existing reading skills and focuses on the specific skills that children with dyslexia find difficult. Please email the inclusion team or speak to your child’s class teacher if you would like to access this programme.
